Planning for Water Conservation in Lohardagga District under Gram Bhagirathi Yojana, Water Resource Department, Government of Jharkhand, August 2002 – January 2003
In order to provide water conservation structures to each habitats/settlement in the district, detailed thematic maps were prepared covering surface drainage, hydrogeomorphology, slope, physiography, land use land cover and soils. Based on the rainfall distribution and considering the soil and other climatic conditions, feasible water harvesting structures were identified at appropriate locations and digitized maps were generated for implementation purposes by the Water Resources Department. A detailed techno economic feasibility report was prepared and submitted to the Department of Water Resources, Government of Jharkhand. The soil condition, slope and other parameters were taken into account at all stages of planning for water resources development in the districts.
The services rendered included preparation of base map, geo-coding of the satellite imageries, generation of thematic maps, ground thudding and preparation of final thematic maps related to surface drainage, soils, hydrogeomorphology, slope, relief, land use, land cover, cropped area estimation for kharif and rabi seasons.
