Evaluation Study of the Selected Watersheds funded National Watershed Development Programme for Rainfed Area (Nine) and River Valley Projects (Four) in Maharahstra - Department of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra - 1999- 2000
Services provided included survey of beneficiary and non-beneficiary households from selected catchments, case studies of soil conservation works like water harvesting structures and forest plantations. Secondary information was collected through discussions with State Government Officials, from project documents, reports, etc. The data was analyzed and report prepared. The study was conducted to assess:
- Extent of moderation of siltation hazards by sediment time series data analysis.
- Increase in productivity and changes in cropping pattern, cropping intensity, yields of crops in the pre and post project period.
- Water resources generated and mini commands created which have helped in supply of drinking water and increase in irrigated agriculture.
- Change in forest cover and vegetation and biomass production.
- Employment generated at site of the treated area of the watersheds.
- Economic and other benefits accrued and its socio economic impact in the watershed areas.
