World Bank Aided Andhra Pradesh Economic Restructuring Project - Irrigation Component: Technical Baseline Survey
AFC completed the prestigious World Bank Aided Andhra Pradesh Economic Restructuring Project (APERP)- Technical Baseline Survey covering the entire State of Andhra Pradesh. The basic objective assignment was to identify technical, monitorable indicators in the areas of irrigation and water management, agricultural production and productivity, farmers’ turnover, socio-economic aspects, environmental aspects, etc. Remote Sensing and GIS applications for crop area estimation and assessment of crop yields based on the vegetative index were also components of the study. The Terms of Reference that were designed for this Baseline Survey were on lines similar to Water Resources Consolidation Project being funded by the World Bank in different States of the Country. The study required in-depth field investigations on inflows, water releases, water distribution, irrigated and irrigated dry, etc. besides detailed socio-economic technical investigations for other components. Study of environmental issues in the existing irrigation commands was also an important component.
