Preparation of Social Impact Assessment Report for Jayamkondan Lignite Mine cum Power Project

   Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd., Neyveli (NLC), Tamil Nadu have entrusted the above task to AFC.

   NLC has presently taken up implementation of expansion of the existing Mine-II and second Thermal Power Station at Neyveli and setting up of lignite mine cum power station at Barsingsar in Rajasthan and has proposed to set up coal & lignite based power stations in the states of Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Gujarat & Madhya Pradesh. It also proposes to develop a Third Mine of 8.0 million tones/annum capacity supplying lignite to Third Thermal Power Station of 1000 MW installed capacity comprising 2 Units of 500 MW each.

   AFC would carry out complete Study of Social Impact Assessment (SIA) in the site proposed for Jayamkondam Lignite Mine and Thermal Power Station Project covering about 12000 hectares of lands in 20 villages in Udayarpalayam taluk of Ariyalur District, Tamil Nadu.
