Techno-Economic Feasibility Study for Development of Horticulture Exports from Karnataka (KAPPEC) – Karnataka State Agriculture Produce Processing & Export Corporation Ltd., Bangalore - October 2007

  The project was designed to increase export of horticultural products from the State with focus on improving export performance of selected fruits, vegetables, spices and condiments that have international demand, in a phased manner. Components of the project comprised of creation of additional infrastructural facilities; providing opportunities to the farmers to earn incremental income from their holdings; creating large scale specialised employment in pre and post-harvest areas; increase in foreign exchange earnings from horticulture sectors.

AFC’s report was well received by the Government of Karnataka. The suggestions made in the report, in particular, the measures to overcome the problems/obstacles in export of horticultural commodities were adopted. KAPPEC has been successfully operating the project and earning reasonable profits.
