»  CEIA, EMP and R & R of Jurala HE Project – AP GENCO, Hyderabad - 2007

Basin: Krishna

  • Lower Jurala Hydro-Electric Project has been proposed at 7.9 km downstream of Priyadarshini Jurala Project on Krishna River near Atmakur in drought-prone Mahabubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh.

  • The Project involves construction of a weir 1470 m length and 5m average height (11m maximum) across River Krishna with a power channel 1.723 km long and a tail race channel of 1.55 km long joined to the river downstream. The reservoir will have a capacity of 14.2 Mcum (0.50 TMC) of water. The free catchment area is 10,358 ha.

  • The project is expected to generate 6 x 40 MW power (466.36 GWh) and mitigate the power shortage in the State to some extent. The power generated would be transmitted to the sub-station located at Priyadarshini Jurala and from there linked to the AP grid.

  • The cost of implementation of EMP is assessed at Rs. 1082 lakh.
